The Virtual CIO
The Virtual CIO is a division of M.E. Lachance & Associates, Ltd.
The company was formed in 1997, with a focus on improving Information Technology Business processes.
Process improvement projects were completed for financial institutions such as Merrill Lynch, Ameriacn Express and Royal Bank. In all cases, the focus on improved processes provided savings, which exceeded consulting costs by a factor of 2-3 during the project period. This division became known as The IT Process Doctor.
In 2004, we started to focus on smaller businesses, looking at the return on investment from technology purchases. What we found was that smaller companies were getting a lower return on investment than large companies, because they they didn’t have the expertise to look at how effective their business processes were, and couldn’t afford the large fees that consultants charged. They also could not see the value in these investments. At this time, The Virtual CIO was formed to focus on small organizations.

In the redesign of our business model, we focused on getting technology to support our clients business goals, which is described in Our Approach.
